New Apple Ads Crush Crispin Porter + Bogusky’s Junk
And here’s why…branding
Apple’s products don’t have brand image problems like Microsoft’s?Vista. So no matter what Crispin, Porter + Bogusky does it won’t matter because it’s just advertising. And even if they win every award in the freakin world if the product sucks, or service is bad, or internal policies at Microsoft are misaligned guess what…
Now Apple’s new ads are killer:
1. The new ad where they say why don’t you call it Vista anymore? Why is it just Microsoft? Apple is killing Microsoft. They are manhandling them.
2. There’s a pile of cash and the Mac guy says…why don’t you fix Vista versus spending all your money on ads? Brilliant.
No amount of advertising is going to make people buy a crappy product…go get em Apple!

Vista deserves to die in a flaming ball of fire. I have it on both my home and work computers, and it’s simply ridiculous. I talked to a friend of mine who claims to have worked on it, and he said that the only way to get it to run correctly is to install 2-4 extra gb of RAM.
So….Microsoft is selling computers with an OS that is too dadgum big to run on the memory that comes installed in the computer….
Brilliant move, Microsoft…

These spots are a thing of beauty. Esp, the money-counting one. I literally applauded after I saw it. I had high hopes that Crispin could really help Microsoft…ahh well.

Yea, the one with the big pile of cash is brilliant. Instead of hiring an ad agency they should have fixed Vista. The Mac ad hits home because it’s true.
Microsoft has two options.
1. Fix Vista (then develop ads)
2. Trash Vista (then promote new system)
Until then no amount of advertising will fix the problems.

I am a loyal Apple fan/user because it’s just a great product. I love my Mac. However, the I’m a Mac/I’m a PC ads are really beginning to ANNOY me. Maybe it’s all the negative political ads right now — but dissing the competition feels so mean and unnecessary. Plus, I don’t think Mac needs to shoot down. I think it’s time for that campaign to die.
As far as the Crispin ads go?you do what you can with the product you have to schlepp. I think they’ve done pretty well for what they had to work with.

I think CP+B did pretty good considering the situation. Yes, Vista is poo, but I think Microsoft has a lot of other software to offer that’s pretty good.
It’s a little sanctimonious to bag on CP+B for taking on the challenge. In Scott White’s “Shameless Self Promotion” section, I don’t see any courage about attempting to change the national conversation of such a maligned brand.

Hey Colorado, the ads are all wasted because the product has serious brand image problems. That’s why Mac is crushing their advertising efforts. No courage is required here. CP+B basically sold out for the big pay day knowing that Vista is a crappy product. Good for CB+P for making the cash I guess. Aren’t they Apple junkies anyway?
