InBev and Anheuser-Busch Merge - Yuck!

Yuck is the professional term I use when I see golden opportunities blown. Check out the new company name and logo:

As you can see InBev clearly played to the old logo of Anheuser-Busch. The merger of the two names is at best poor. I think they missed a golden opportunity to rename the entire brand. Let’s hope InBev doesn’t buy another big company because their new name could soon be ABInBevCoors…

What do you think? ABInBev or new name? What about the new logo?

Hat tip to Brand New for the images.

I am just happy I sold at $67.50 several months ago. BUT, I agree. They should not have tried to combine the names. Just give it something totally new. Not much you can do with InBev. Maybe KingBev? I don’t know, this is your business, not mine.

    Cheers (with a Bud)

Reminds me of the branding campaign down here for the city of Atlanta in that whenever you try to appease everyone, you end up with something that makes everyone unhappy. I think sticking with either name would have been better than this. A new name probably would have been even better. Yuck is a darn good word choice.

To get off topic a little for a second, I wrote on my blog about the merger back in August. I hadn’t heard many people talk about the fact that The King of Beers now lives in Belgium. Somehow Budwesier - Great American Lager (now owned by Belgium) just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

    InBusch.

The logo and brand name is uninspired. However, as a consumer, I rarely paid to Anheuser Busch and went for “Budweiser”. AB INBev has bigger issues to deal with and that is the ridiculous brand extensions that effectively cannibalize each label they produce.
