The Types Of Clients We Avoid

We don’t participate in RFP’s. We don’t do spec work. We often lose business because of it. Good riddance, it wasn’t business worth having. Here’s a really funny video of the things prospects try and pull over on agencies. The sad thing is agencies often cave.

I’d love to know how many small businesses see themselves in this video, (but would never admit it of course). Every example made me chuckle as I’ve heard every example and more over my 25 year history. Who produced this gem Chief?

  2. Gregg Lederman Says:

It’s amazing to me how many agencies still do spec work. Spec work in my mind is a result of an inability to sell on value.

Not sure but it sure hits the nail on the head.

Brilliant. I worked for years in agencies on new business, and this was funny but painful to watch. I think that this kind of behavior happens when agencies become less creative-driven and more account-driven. Creatives of the world, unite!

I have a better use for the hammer!

Brilliant and tragically funny! I’ve seen this over and over again through the years, and now we just say “NO THANKS!” The only way you can charge what you’re worth and get it is to appreciate and understand your own value.
    Thanks for the great reminder!

In response to who created this…

Scofield Editorial right here in beautiful Indianapolis… The waiter in this is actually someone I’ve used in a recent photoshoot. Bottom line is the video is spot on.

Funny how some of our own clients didn’t think it was so funny. :)
