When Naming Goes Bad – Oriental Mix

oriental mix

Is it me or do they really mean “Asian Mix”? Otherwise what kind of rug is in that bag?

What do you think? Cool to call it “Oriental Mix”?

I see no problem in calling it an Oriental Mix. You’re talking about food, not about people. It is not objectionable to refer to oriental cuisine. Oriental in the true sense of the word means “Eastern”. Oriental can also mean “Lustrous & valuable” (as in oriental pearls), so this double entendre could actually be good in marketing this snack mix.

In Spain, we usually associate “oriental” with “asian” so I donĀ“t thing this is a bad name.
