You’re a romantic, but there’s nothing french about Target.
I prefer target too.

Who doesne’t consider Target as their store of choice when comparing between walmart. When your not looking at the exterior and employee uniforms, 70% of what both stores offer match each others retail prices. Target was smart when choosing to go outside the box and stepping it up for their “upper-middleclass” target market.

Is it possible to love either of these brands? Walmart have bought Asda, one of of top 4 supermarkets in the UK, Asda apparently is very much loved and commands great loyalty by it’s customers, but is very much looked down on by the other top brands. I guess horese for courses!

From a brand appeal prospective you have to go with Target for sure. The Target brand is one of the best on the market. Its clean, modern and has a cutting edge campaign in advertising and marketing. There brand creates a higher quality feeling for the customer. Walmart has that all american vibe and screams lower pricing and value. But ultimately the pricing is competitive. So overall you got to give Target the edge.

Walmart is definitely dirty. Target, whichever way you pronounce it, works hard to make sure it is clean and beautiful and well lit. The ceilings are lower and the lights, i think, are a different color, or reflect a different color. Red is a more active color and when light shines off of it, it doesn’t create depressing shadows like the blue Walmart color. I prefer shopping in Target.
What do you think about the Walmart logo change? I don’t want to shop there whether they have sharp, angular, capitols or soft, rounded, lower letters. They stand for the same despicable principals.
However, while Walmart is the greater of the two evils, Target promotes sweat shops as well. I know someone who owned a screen printing company and Target asked them to replicate a design that (insert Abecrombie like company here) had already implemented – straight copyright infringement. They protested, but wanted the business so they ended up taking the job. Soon, the company was filing a law suit about the shirts and Target pointed fingers to the production crew and my acquaintance lost his investment.
Also, does anyone else feel like they are pushing a cart or carrying a basket that could have come out of Disney & Pixar’s Wall-e ? Maybe that’s just me.
